Dr. Emil Engels was the CEO of Aligned Orthopedic Partners, a private equity backed management services organization (MSO), until April 2024.  In that capacity, he oversaw growth in terms of providers, revenue, and EBITDA of 400% in three and a half years. He completed five acquisitions, grew ancillary services (including diagnostic imaging, physical therapy, and urgent care), and participated in the management of two platform-owned surgery centers. He and the surgeons from Aligned Ortho participated extensively in value-based care. He also recruited and built a high performing executive team.

An anesthesiologist by training, Dr. Engels attended the University of Virginia and Yale Medical School, and he did his residency in the Harvard System. He also has an MBA from the University of Tennessee. He has over 20 years’ experience leading clinical and business professionals while focusing on quality outcomes.  Dr. Engels previously served as a Market President for Mednax, where he managed 12 practices across four states with 800 providers and $260M in net patient service revenue (NPSR).
